CyberHub Lithuania stakeholders gather in Vilnius to advance national cybersecurity skills strategy

On April 29, 2025, CyberHub Lithuania held its quarterly stakeholders’ meeting at Business Garden Vilnius to review the national cybersecurity skills strategy, align ongoing initiatives, and plan future actions. The event gathered Lithuanian project participants and was dedicated to strengthening collaboration and ensuring alignment with national cybersecurity priorities.
The meeting focused on enhancing public awareness, addressing the shortage of qualified cybersecurity specialists, and fostering greater engagement across sectors. Presentations and discussions covered Lithuania’s current challenges and proposed actions in key areas such as education, training, and youth engagement.
The main highlights from the meeting included:
- The need to reduce the shortage of qualified cybersecurity specialists through targeted initiatives.
- Proposals to organize public awareness campaigns on digital safety, run cybersecurity competitions in schools, and improve cybersecurity training for teachers.
- Calls to increase the frequency of cybersecurity training simulations (“polygons”), launch hackathons simulating critical scenarios, and involve universities and schools in both theoretical and practical activities.
- The proposal of innovative projects such as “Vilnius Defends Itself”, combining theory and practice.
- Emphasis on AI literacy as part of public education efforts.
- Support from the National Cyber Security Centre (NKSC) for cybersecurity education, and their willingness to participate in strategic group activities.
- Suggestions to update existing training programs, integrate cybersecurity into informatics curricula, and improve communication and coordination among initiatives to avoid fragmentation.
INFOBALT, represented by Deputy Director Virgilijus Dirma and Head of Innovation Development Milda Savickaitė, presented the CyberHub Lithuania governance structure and action plan. Professor Algimantas Venčkauskas and Dr Jonas Čeponis from Kaunas University of Technology, presented the national cybersecurity skills analysis and strategy.
This productive and engaging session laid the foundation for the next steps in the implementation of the CyberHub Lithuania initiative, contributing to a stronger and more coordinated national cybersecurity ecosystem.
