The Digital Skills Summit, hosted by DIGITALEUROPE, the coordinator of the CyberHubs project, will convene key stakeholders from industry, academia, and policy-making to address the growing digital skills gap in Europe.
Taking place in Brussels and online on Wednesday 27 November 2024, the Summit aims to spark meaningful discussions on equipping the workforce with the necessary digital competencies to thrive in an evolving tech-driven landscape.
An especially noteworthy session is the “Enhancing Defence and Security with Digital Skills” panel, which will delve into the critical role of advanced digital competencies in fortifying Europe’s defence and security sectors. Building on keynote themes, the panel will tackle the challenges of countering hybrid and conventional threats, managing cybersecurity risks, combating misinformation, and responding to natural disasters and climate-related challenges. It will highlight strategies for closing skill gaps, fostering workforce development, and enhancing public-private collaboration to equip Europe’s defence sector with the tools needed to address these complex issues effectively.
The discussion will feature a distinguished line-up of experts, including Laura Jiménez Orgaz, Global Head of Cyber GRC at Santander; Saskia Van Uffelen, Digital Manager at Agoria; Luca Tagliaretti, Executive Director of the European Cybersecurity Competence Centre and Network; and Matteo Paonni, Deputy Head of Unit at the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre. The session will be moderated by Constantinos Hadjisavvas, Director for Digital Resilience and Defence at DIGITALEUROPE.
The Summit also includes other expert panels, case studies, and networking opportunities, focusing on aligning Europe’s digital education and training initiatives with its broader policy goals.
