Cybersecurity Skills Strategy: Slovenia

The Cybersecurity Skills Strategy developed by CyberHub Slovenia focuses on bridging skills gaps, enhancing education, and fostering workforce preparedness to address evolving cyber threats. By strengthening collaboration between academia, government, and industry, the strategy aims to establish a sustainable cybersecurity ecosystem that safeguards critical infrastructure and aligns with Slovenia’s digital transformation goals.

The strategy targets key groups, such as students, professionals, public and private sector employees. The approach integrates local stakeholder engagement, EU policy alignment, and participation in the CyberHubs project. The findings from the Cybersecurity Skills Mismatches Analysis highlight a shortage of cybersecurity practitioners, gaps in practical training and soft skills, and the need for AI-related cybersecurity expertise.

To address these challenges, the strategy prioritises:

  • Integrating cybersecurity education at all levels, from schools to professional certifications.
  • Expanding training programmes to enhance both technical and non-technical skills.
  • Strengthening public-private partnerships to align training with industry needs.
  • Promoting public awareness to make cybersecurity a societal norm.

By implementing these measures, Slovenia’s strategy ensures a resilient, future-ready cybersecurity workforce, supporting both national security and EU digital transformation objectives.
