European Cybersecurity Skills Conference 2024

CyberHub participated in the third edition of the European Cybersecurity Skills Conference, co-organised by ENISA and the Hungarian Presidency of the EU Council on 26-27 September 2024 in Budapest. The event served as a key opportunity to address the challenges and explore solutions for bridging the cybersecurity skills gap across Europe.
As part of the conference, CyberHub hosted a panel titled “Navigating the ECSF: Lightning Talks – Bridging the Cybersecurity Skills Gap”. The session highlighted the CyberHubs initiative and introduced the seven national hubs. During the panel, Jutta Breyer (Breyer Publico) and Csaba Krasznay (University of Public Service) shared the initial results of the 2024 Cybersecurity Professional Skills and Roles Needs Analysis, which is based on the European Cybersecurity Skills Framework (ECSF). The second half of the session focused on a comprehensive overview of the cybersecurity skill demands in Europe, particularly in the seven countries where CyberHubs operates (Belgium, Spain, Hungary, Lithuania, Greece, Slovenia, and Estonia), with a special focus on Hungary.
The two-day conference brought together stakeholders from business, policy, and academia, underlining the importance of the ECSF for talent development, skill certification, and alignment with the NIS2 Directive. The discussions emphasized the need for more effective training programs and collaborative initiatives, like CyberHub, to address the widening cybersecurity skills gap.
